New medical tech funding at the University of Pittsburgh

According to the Center for Medical Innovation (CMI), innovative medical product research gets a new round of technology funding

$200,000 will be invested in order to boost engineering and medicine devices department, in order to continue the project named the Pilot Funding Program for Early Stage Medical Technology Research and Development.

“These are the kinds of projects that promote tangible innovation. We are translating known principles and known technologies into usable health-care products that can improve lives,”
commented the CMI executive director Dr. Alan Hirschman.

The next areas that the researchers will focus on are respiratory, hearing and eye diseases. Moreover, the scientists announced that a new-age aerosol medicine delivering drugs to a specific organ is to be developed.

The Pilot Funding Program for Early Stage Medical Technology Research and Development has been running for six years now.
